Can you build an AI agent MVP in six weeks?

Yes, if the scope is set correctly. What you include and what you cut is the whole game.

"I want to build an AI agent — how long does it take?" The honest answer is that it depends on scope. Badly set scope turns six weeks into six months. Well set scope produces, within six weeks, something that actually works, that real users use, and that you can put in front of investors.

This piece collects what Intesol Korea has learned across the AI agent MVP projects we have shipped.

Start with what MVP means

The load-bearing word in MVP is "minimum." The most common mistake is reading MVP as "a small finished product." An MVP is not a finished product. It is the least product needed to test the core value hypothesis.

"Without this feature, can the product still deliver its core value?" If the answer is yes, the feature is not in the MVP.
What the six-week timeline actually looks like

This is the timeline Intesol Korea follows to build an AI agent MVP in six weeks.

Week 1 Requirements and core feature lock. Cap the core at three features, write the user scenarios, draft the Claude API prompt structure. Document the "this is Phase 2" list explicitly.
Weeks 2–3 Build the AI core. Claude API integration, prompt engineering iterations, response parsing and validation logic. No UI needed at this stage — a working backend comes first.
Weeks 4–5 UI plus backend integration. A minimal UI in React or Next.js, authentication (Firebase Auth or Supabase — do not roll your own), storage (PostgreSQL or Supabase).
Week 6 Deploy and recruit beta users. Ship to AWS EC2, Railway or Render, recruit 10–50 beta users, collect two weeks of usage data, then take the investor meeting or the next-step decision.
Why we pick the Claude API

Three reasons we recommend the Claude API as the engine in an MVP. First, the long context window (200K tokens) lets you process a whole document in one pass. Second, Korean-language quality matches GPT-4 and beats it in specific areas. Third, cost: $0.25 per million input tokens on Haiku keeps the bill light at MVP stage.

For a typical MVP, Claude API cost lands between $20 and $100 a month. As usage grows you upgrade the model or add caching.

The mistakes that turn six weeks into six months
Building your own auth: Use Firebase Auth or Supabase Auth. Hand-rolling authentication wastes two to three weeks of an MVP.
Chasing a perfect UI: At MVP stage the UI standard is "it works." Lean on Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui components.
Adding realtime: WebSocket-based live updates are Phase 2. Polling or a page refresh is enough for an MVP.
Handling every edge case: An MVP only has to nail the core scenario. Edge cases wait for real user feedback.
Team collaboration features: Build the first version for a single user. Team features come after market validation.
After the MVP: preparing Phase 2

The most valuable output of a six-week MVP is not the product — it is the learning. Which features people actually use, where they drop off, how what they first expected differs from what they actually need. That data sets your Phase 2 scope.
